Okay, the second part of the story: my operation.

As some of you may know, i've developed a bit of tinnitus over the last few years. Nothing too serious, but annoying sometimes when i need to take a nap. After numerous diagnoses, the doctors considered that it's not seriously affecting my hearing (like, i'm not going deaf or anything), but it was discovered that i have a deviated septum and this could be causing pressure on my ears, hence the ringing. This is something that is quite common, and thankfully it's covered by my private health insurance.

So i made an appointment with the London Laser Clinic for the surgery, and after filling in a load of paperwork, i was on my to a hospital in St John's Wood. The consultant explained the procedure to me and i met the anesthetist. They gave me a private room, an after a few hours i was wheeled into the anesthetic prep room. In a backless gown. For some reason.

The anesthetist put some kind of needle in my right hand. He then injected me with this milky-coloured fluid which sort of froze my arm. I thought i was supposed to count to ten or something. Then the fluorescent lights above me started to move against my will and i kept trying to correct my vision to keep them steady. I nearly succeeded when i passed out.

A while later i awoke with a sore throat (due to the tube they put down there when you're under). I was then wheeled back with my nasal passages jammed with cotton. The nurse kept giving me ice to chew in order to constrict the blood flowing from inside my nose. After a while they removed the cotton pads with tweezers - the only really painful part of the whole procedure - and i had to wear a gauze pad under my nose to stem the small tide of blood that trickled from it.

Apparently the operation was a success. I bled for about 10 days afterwards, but it stopped a few days ago. My nose is still not fully decongested, but it's getting there.
